When Tabitha Yim graduated from Stanford University as one of the most decorated athletes in the school’s history, she felt the need distance herself from the world of gymnastics.

After two years of giving back to underprivileged communities via Teach for America, she gravitated back to the sport and her alma mater as an assistant coach.

During the five seasons she held the position Yim proved herself as more than capable as a mentor in a highly competitive atmosphere, as she and head coach Kristen Smyth led the team to its highest team scores at the 2012 and 2015 NCAA Championships.

The University of Arizona took note and hired Tabitha Yim as its new gymnastics head coach on May 6.

She will be replacing Bill Ryden who retired after 17 years with the program.
