Mass shooting breaks out in California, multiple casualties

Three masked gunmen opened fire on a medical building in Southern California Wednesday resulting in multiple casualties.

Authorities believed that at least 20 had been wounded with an undisclosed number of fatalities.

“There are multiple casualties, and there are some confirmed fatalities. I don’t have numbers at this point,” San Bernardino police spokesman Sgt. Vicki Cervantes told KCBS-TV.

The incident occurred at the Inland Regional Center, which provides health services for those with developmental disabilities.

Speculation of terrorist motives surrounded the shooting as it took place less than three weeks after the Paris attacks that left over 130 dead.

So far, authorities have yet to reveal a motive behind Wednesday’s attacks.

Four victims have been sent to Loma Linda University Medical Center, and the hospital expects to admit more patients, hospital representative Briana Pastorino told CNN.

The suspects fled the scene and were last seen in an unidentified black SUV.

San Bernardino County is located 60 miles east of Los Angeles County.
