‘Inside Men’ wins best film at Blue Dragon Awards

SEOUL, Nov. 25 (Yonhap) — South Korean crime thriller “Inside Men” won the top award at the 2016 Blue Dragon Awards, one of the nation’s top two film honors, on Friday.

“Inside Men” took home best film and best actor awards during the awards show held at Kyunghee University in eastern Seoul.

Starring Lee Byung-hun, Cho Seung-woo and Baek Yun-shik, the movie portrays the complicated relationships between politicians, the press, the wealthy, law enforcement authorities and organized crime in South Korea.

Lee was honored for his lead role as the vengeful political henchman Ahn Sang-gu in the movie directed by Woo Min-ho.

Kim Min-hee of director Park Chan-wook’s “The Handmaiden” was named best actress, while the best supporting actor and actress awards went to Kunimura Jun and Park So-dam of “The Wailing” and “The Priests.” “The Wailing” also earned its helmer Na Hong-jin the best director award.

Park Jung-min and Kim Tae-ri claimed best new actor and new actress for “Dongju: The Portrait of A Poet” and “The Handmaiden,” while the best rookie director award went to Yoon Ga-eun of “The World of Us.”

    Very good movie and very happy for Lee Byung Hun! He is really on a roll lately with roles in both US pictures and Korean films. Good for him!

    BTW, I thought The Wailing was a better overall film.
