Culture ministry to hold content fair this weekend

SEOUL, Oct. 14 (Yonhap) — A government-run content fair will open this weekend to showcase a wide variety of cultural products and technological convergence, the culture ministry said Friday.

The two-day event, “Content, More than Content,” hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will showcase various content used in games, entertainment, animation and virtual reality programs, while offering participatory events for visitors. The exhibition will take place at the D Hall of the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX) in southern Seoul.

On Saturday, the fair opens with a K-pop concert featuring popular idol groups, including SHINee, NCT and Crayon Pop, at the plaza near the East Gate of COEX. The organizers hope the performances by popular singers attract more foreign tourists who have visited Korea in time for the “Korea Sale FESTA,” an annual sales campaign to boost consumption. The concert will be live broadcast on the music cable channel Mnet.

The ministry said the event is designed to show the growth and development of the country’s content industry and relevant technologies, and further emphasize their potential. As virtual reality and artificial intelligence have emerged as the sectors with high growth potential, the ministry plans to pump up the investment. It said a total budget of 640 billion won (US$564 million) is earmarked to boost the industry next year.

“I hope Korean content can create synergy by combining different cultural factors together. The government plans to support aggressively the relevant industries to build a ‘content ecosystem,’” said Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Cho Yoon-sun.

This is precisely what I require. I have never thought the selection representatives give careful consideration in online networking like that. It’s fortunate that I have gorgeous profile in informal community.
