S. Korean band Hyukoh to enter in Japanese music industry

September 22, 2016

SEOUL, Sept. 22, (Yonhap) — South Korean rock band Hyukoh will advance into the Japanese market, working together with an eminent Japanese record label, the band’s management agency said.

“The band is preparing for its much-anticipated debut in Japan. Together with Toy’s Factory, Hyukoh looks forward to gaining a foothold in Japan’s music industry,” Duruduru AMC, Hyukoh’s agency, said in a press release on Wednesday. “They will kick off their many activities with the release of their EPs ’20′ and ’22′ on Nov. 9.”

Toy’s Factory is highly touted for nurturing skilled bands. Among them are Mr. Children, BUMP OF CHICKEN and SEKAI NO OWARI, arguably some of the most influential bands in Japan.

Just last month, Hyukoh participated in annual Japanese music festival Summer Sonic 2016. The festival took place before Hyukoh’s official debut, but the band’s performance seized Japanese music lovers’ attention.

“Hyukoh is steadily gaining popularity in Asia. They are continuously receiving love not only from Japan, but also China,” the agency added.

The band first captivated Chinese audiences at Strawberry music festivals in Shanghai and Beijing this fall, then held another exclusive concert in Shanghai in July, where tickets sold out one minute after the ticket box opened.

Currently, the rising band plans to release their first full-length album in Japan before the year closes.

Hyukoh is a South Korean rock quartet that made its official debut in South Korea in September 2014, with lead vocal and songwriter Oh Hyuk, bass guitarist Im Dong-gun, lead guitarist Lim Hyun-jae and drummer Lee In-woo.
