Over 10,000 lose power due to LA’s windy weather, 722 in K-town

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – About 10,000 customers were without electrical service in various areas of wind-buffeted Los Angeles County this afternoon, including about 5,500 in the city of Los Angeles, authorities said.

Affected areas in Los Angeles included Mid-Wilshire, where 1,650 Department of Water and Power customers were without electricity; Hollywood Hills, with power out to 922 customers; Koreatown, with 722 customers without service; and the Vermont-Slauson area, where 783 customers were without power, the utility reported.

Most of the outages were wind-related and since this morning, crews had restored power to more than 15,550 customers, according to the DWP.

Another 2,387 customers in Inglewood were without service this afternoon, according to the DWP.

Southern California Edison, meanwhile reported that 2,432 customers were without service in various communities and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.

Another 3,116 of its customers were without electrical service in Orange County, according to SCE.
