With New Jersey general assembly elections coming up Tuesday, seven Korean American candidates are working to secure last-minute votes.

In the running are Wonkyu Rim (R), for the District 27 seat in the state assembly; Park Myung-geun (R), for a town council seat in Englewood Cliffs, against Ellen Park (D); Margaret Ahn (R), for Fort Lee City Council; Lee Jong-chul (D), for Palisades Park City Council; Dennis Shim (D), for Ridgefield City Council; and Jenny Chung (D), for Closter City Council.

Rim has made a campaign out of door-to-door visits alongside about 30 staff. New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, who visited his campaign office Friday, has given her support.

In Englewood Cliffs, it’s a fight between two Parks — Park Myung-geun, who has called for an end to a 40-year history of Democratic dominance in the region, and Ellen Park, whose campaign is focused on youth and freshness.

Ahn, Lee and Chung, too, knocked on doors in their respective cities this weekend in an effort to meet voters. Ridgefield’s Shim attended a party Sunday for Democratic residents to urge voters to come out to cast their picks.
