EXO wins third million-seller

SEOUL, Aug. 18 (Yonhap) — South Korean idol group EXO has snagged the triple million-seller crown with its third batch of albums, the band’s management said on Thursday.

As of Wednesday, the K-pop boy group logged a combined album sales of 1,170,365 copies for its third studio album “EX’ACT,” according to EXO’s Seoul-based agency S.M. Entertainment.

Of the tally, 796,085 copies are for Korean and Chinese versions of the main album and 374,280 copies are for the pre-ordered repackaged album “LOTTO” that also came in the two languages.

EXO’s first million-seller is the set of its first studio album “XOXO” and its repackage “Growl,” released in June and August of 2013, respectively.

The second came with the set of the group’s second studio album “EXODUS” and its repackage “Love Me Right,” rolled out in March and June of 2015.

Since its official debut in April 2012, EXO has secured a stable pool of fans, earning its title as a bankable player in the lackluster album market.

“LOTTO,” the title song of its latest album by the same name, topped the mainstream music charts here as soon as the song was released at 12 a.m. on Thursday.
