Jang Geun-suk (NEWSis)

It has been confirmed South Korean actor Jang Geun-suk, 28, paid about $10 million in fines to the National Tax Service, which comes months after initial accusations of tax evasion on income from foreign countries surfaced last year.

Jang reportedly failed to report the correct amount of his earnings — estimated to be in the billions of won — from activities in foreign countries, most prominently China, to the tax services, according to the Kukmin Ilbo Wednesday.

The Seoul Regional Tax Office launched an investigation last June on Jang, which lasted until the end of November.

A source with the office said Jang had paid about $10 million in fines after the investigation ended.

Another Jang, the 36-year-old president of an entertainment company only identified as ‘H,’ which acts as a liaison for entertainers doing overseas activities, reportedly also paid $1 million in fines.

Prosecutors closed the case on both men without indictments.

UPDATE: Tree J Company, Jang’s agency, told MyDaily in response to the news Wednesday in Korea that the reports were untrue.

“He already underwent a normal investigation by the tax service, so we don’t understand why this is coming out again. It’s difficult for us to issue an official statement on this matter,” a source with his agency said.

Tree J Company denied accusations last July when initial reports of Jang’s alleged tax evasion were released.

So this lie is on the news again!? It is the 4th time in the last 6 month to pop up – always before an important project of JKS. Am I the only person who thinks it is on purpose? Wait, EVERYBODY starts to think the same. He denies it and it is enough. Expaining anything is just in vain – the shallow minds wouldn’t accept it.
Jang Keun Suk, you are the most strong person I have seen. Keep going on, your eels are with you!

The Chinese entertainment agency/promoter in question is HS Media and headed by Jason Jang. JKS is not their only artist that they manage in China. But, as usual, every time JKS has a new project – the media would drag his name.
The tax investigation is normally done in every country as part of surveillance under a regulatory system. Not all accounting/tax due calculations are perfect. Financial statements are always checked to balance assets and liabilities. It is naive to blame JKS for this.

Well, tax paid is directly proportional to earnings. With the amount of taxes he allegedly paid, this suggests that JKS earnings is much greater than the combined earnings of SM + JYP + YG + FNC. Last year, Korean media reported that JkS is the biggest loser among K artists. There is no logic at all.
