Voter registration in Korean available for Calif., deadline Oct. 20

Voters in California can now register to vote in Korean for the Nov. 4 general elections, as the deadline for registration approaches on Oct. 20.

Registration in Korean is being offered both online or through a mailed application, the California Secretary of State said Thursday in a website announcement (www.sos.ca.gov/elections/new-voter/korean) in Korean.

It said voters will need their California drivers license or identification card number, the last four digits of their social security number and a date of birth for online registration.

About 145,600 Korean Americans are eligible to vote in California. The general election will see Korean American political hopefuls including Republican Orange County Supervisor 2nd District candidate Michelle Park Steel, Republican State Assembly 65th District candidate Young Kim and Democrat State Senate District 24 candidate Peter Choi.
