(Yonhap) — South Korean pop groups Super Junior and Girls’ Generation have been nominated for this year’s Teen Choice Awards on FOX in the United States, their management said Tuesday.

The two groups will compete with global stars, such as the British boy group One Direction and the Australian rock band 5 Seconds of Summer for the Choice International Artist award, S.M. Entertainment said.

Launched in 1999 by FOX, the Teen Choice Awards is an annual awards show where American teens between the ages of 13 and 19 vote to elect what they think are the world’s most popular and influential artists in music, film and television.

This year’s awards show is set to be held at Galen Center in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. (local time) on Aug. 16 and will be simultaneously aired nationwide on FOX.
