May 12, 2015

The Philadelphia branch of World Vision is unfolding a campaign to send 625 backpacks to children in Congo in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Korean War on June 25.

Pastor Lee Jung-chul, a branch leader, said the backpacks will contain school supplies and basic necessities. Each bag will cost about $22, he said.

Volunteers are welcome to come out to Disciple Community Church in Conshohocken to help assemble the bags on June 27, Lee said.

World Vision is a Christian non-profit that was founded in 1950 to help orphans left helpless by the Korean War.

Eleven churches in the Philadelphia region are members of the branch.
