SEOUL, Sept. 13 (Yonhap) — The period romance drama “Love in the Moonlight” has continued to reach new heights in viewership with its seventh episode, data showed Tuesday.

The KBS 2TV drama starring actor Park Bo-gum and actress Kim You-jung raked in 20.4 percent of viewers nationwide on Monday night, a record for the show, according to data from Nielson Korea.

The rate was up from 18.8 percent on last Tuesday. In Seoul and its adjacent areas, 20.9 percent of TV viewers tuned into the show.

The drama’s competitors in the same time slot — MBC TV’s “Monster” and SBS TV’s “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” — attracted 10.6 percent and 5.7 percent of viewers, respectively.

The KBS series is loosely based on the life of Crown Prince Hyomyeong, who ruled during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) from 1827-1830 due to his father King Sunjo’s poor health. In the drama, he falls in love with the fictional character Hong Ra-on (Kim), who serves in the royal court while disguising herself as a eunuch.

The crown prince confessed his feelings for the eunuch in the seventh episode.

“Love in the Moonlight” airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 10 p.m.
