More Koreans — 16.2 percent, to be exact — visited the United States from January to March compared to the same period last year, according to recent Department of Commerce data.

About 373,000 Korean citizens entered the U.S. during the period, making them seventh by country.

Visitors from Canada came in first at 5.06 million, followed by Mexico (3.9 million), Japan (843,000), the United Kingdom (706,000), Brazil (574,000) and China (561,000).

The department estimates visitors from Korea will number about 1.52 million in total this year, at about a 5 percent increase from last year.
