Korea may slap entry ban on ‘pickup artist’

The Justice Ministry is considering slapping an entry ban on Julien Blanc, a self-proclaimed “pickup artist” from the U.S., after a fierce backlash from women’s groups.
Some 70,000 Koreans have signed an online petition to prevent Blanc from being allowed to enter the nation. He was scheduled to hold seminars fromn Dec. 4 to Dec. 6, on “how to seduce women and sleep with them,” as part of his world tour, according to Change.org, the online petition site.
The petition states that “his so-called lecture includes tips not only on how to degrade and manipulate women but also goes as far as to include tips on how to harass and rape women.”
The groups are urging people “to sign the petition against allowing this immoral, racist, sexist as well as criminal-minded Julien Blanc to come to Korea in order to teach men how to exercise violence, abuse and rape women.”
In response, a ministry official said that according to the immigration law, the justice minister can ban someone from entering the country if their values are deemed to be counter to that of Korea’s social norms.
The official added, “We are aware of such public demand, and we will take necessary measure as we see fit.”
Blanc is an instructor of Real Social Dynamics (RSD), a U.S.-based group, which describes itself as teaching the skills needed to “attract women.”
He reportedly charges $197 (200,000 won) for 23 instructional videos, or $497 for the videos and a live event package ticket.
With the ultimate goal being “having sex,” his advice is all about how men should be unapologetic and shouldn’t let the women get distracted.
In one of his lectures posted on Youtube, he said, “In Japan, if you are a white male, you can do what you want,” causing uproar from the women worldwide leading some to launch twitter and facebook campaign under the name of “TakedownJulienBlanc.”
Blanc is on a world tour now, but, most countries denied his entry following public uproar against him.
Australia revoked his visa on Nov. 6, and Britain’s Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone asked for his UK visa to be denied following some 110,000 signed a nationwide petition against him.
Similarly, Canada’s Citizen and Immigration Officer Chris Alexander wrote on Twitter, on Nov. 11, saying, “His content is completely counter to Canadian values and common decency.”
Blanc was reportedly scheduled to be here, but the venues and timeline of his “lectures” have not been specified, according to Korea Sexual Violence Relief Center (KSVRC), one of the women’s groups behind this movement.
Alongside KSVRC, four others joined the movement: Korean Women’s Association United, Korea Women’s Hot Line, Women with Disabilities Empathy, Korea Womenlink Sexual Violence Relief Center.

This campaign against him is full of inaccurate and misleading accusations. Julien and RSD coaches *never* encouraged *any* form of violence or racism against *anyone*.

Julien Blanc and RSD members are self-improvement coaches who are focused on helping men to become better with women and life in general. They focus on helping them achieve their best self by becoming more confident, social, outgoing and empathetic with people in general. They give genuinely good advices in the area of dating to help men have more fulfilling relationships with women.
The reason so many people believe Julien is evil is because of a big misunderstanding about his attitude. He has a dark sense of humor and is likely to say anything if it can make people react. Everyone who knows him is perfectly aware to always take what he says with caution, because most of his provocative tweets are meant to chock his audience and should not be taken literally in any way.
