ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat” attracted 5.8 million viewers with a 1.9/6 rating among adults 18 to 49 on Tuesday according to Nielsen Media reports.

The figure is significant because the sitcom maintained a healthy viewership despite the two-hour debut of NBC’s hugely popular reality singing competition show “The Voice,” which drew in 13.97 million viewers with a 4.1/6 rating among the same demographic.

“Fresh Off the Boat” had 6.1 million viewers with a 1.9/6 rating among adults 18 to 49 the previous week meaning that it’s ratings were minimally impacted.

Part of the reason might be that the show’s younger viewers are growing steadily. Just last week, 57 percent more teens aged 12 to 17 tuned in according to Variety.

Joe Adalian, an editor for New York Magazine’s Vulture, even made a prediction on Twitter stating that he believes the ratings are a sure fire sign that the Asian American sitcom will be signed for a second season.
