Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin underwent a successful surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder according to the Los Angeles Times.

Doctors were unsure about the extent of the damage, but after assessing the area during the procedure it was confirmed that he would make a full recovery.

According to a statement by Manager Don Mattingly, the surgery was “as good as it could possibly be… It sounded like a really good result.”

Ryu injured his shoulder during spring training and did not return to the mound during the regular season.

He is expected to be back by the 2016 season.

Ryu held a 14-7 record and a 3.38 ERA last year. In December of 2012, the South Korean agreed to a $36 million, six-year deal.
