The Korea Music Content Industry Association has a powerful new set of incoming members.

According to Yonhap, 14 agencies, including SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment, were formally approved as association members Wednesday.

Others include FNC, Big Hit, Jellyfish, Starship and Pledis Entertainment.

The association, which oversees the Gaon Music Chart — the country’s national music chart sponsored by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism — also counts among its membership CJ E&M, Loen, Universal Music, Neowiz Internet and Sony Music, mostly distributors and investors.

“With the membership of content-producing agencies, we’ve now become a representative association for the music industry,” the association said. “In the future, we plan to pursue issues such as copyright policies, protection of the rights of music producers and the infrastructure for the expansion of Hallyu in a more active manner.”
