About 15,000 Japanese fans welcomed a K-pop convention inside Saitama Super Arena Wednesday, Yonhap reported.

KCON Japan, which opened for the first time this year, is an off-shoot of the annual Los Angeles event that began in 2012, organizer CJ E&M said.

The convention included 65 participating businesses offering Korean merchandise to Japanese buyers.

CJ E&M said there have been worries of a decline of Hallyu in Japan, where the Korean pop culture craze first started.

Fans visited booths, star meet-and-greets, dance showcases and workshops. CJ E&M said more than 80 percent of attendees were in their teens and 20s.

Infinite, 2PM’s Jun.K, Block B, Supernova, Sistar and Nicole were among the convention’s performers.
