The first-ever TV series to be filmed in 3D will be “Kang Goo’s Story,” a Korean drama produced by SBS.

The drama was filmed in partnership with LG Electronics and LG Display. According to Kim Young-sup, executive producer, SBS will continue to make dramas using 3D through the second half of the year.

“Kang Goo’s Story” will be a romance with a poetic story and scenes, but the next 3D project will feature more dynamic scenes, Kim said.

When technology advances, 3D could also be used in variety shows. Among them could be “Rules of the Jungle,” a popular reality show that brings stars to exotic locations, he said.

For now, 3D filming faces challenges — for one, only a small percentage of homes own a 3D TV.

“3D production requires more manpower and work than other programs, and there was fear as to its effectiveness, but we’re going to keep investing in it because it has potential for growth,” he said.

According to show Producer Hong Sung-chang, the project began after he received a proposal for a 3D drama from LG. He said he was hesitant at first but agreed because he felt it would be a new challenge.

Although filming wasn’t easy, they didn’t run into too many problems to wrap it up, especially because it was a non-action genre, Hong said. He said he now has the confidence to produce a higher-quality drama for the next 3D project.

“I was wary at first about this being just a promotional tool for LG,” Hong said. “But I felt it was our job as creative people to become pioneers of a new genre. 3D filming could contribute to Hallyu.”

The drama will star Lee Dong-wook, Park Joo-mi and Shin Dong-woo and follow the story of a former gangster who falls in love with the sister of his deceased friend.

Lee said filming was twice as difficult because it had to be stopped constantly because of the wind and because focusing and switching lenses on two cameras at once took 15 minutes instead of the usual one to two.

Still, it was a learning experience, he said.

“Kang Goo’s Story” will air as a 2-parter on March 29 and 30 on SBS.

I just finished watching this film. It was so beautiful. The images were crisp, cinematography beautiful, storyline touched my heart. I can see myself watching this over and over again.

I have one question: Is there anywhere I can find the OST for this film?
