Dr. Julie Kang, an advisory board member at the University of Washington, was named to the Equity and Race Advisory Committee of Seattle Public Schools last week.

Kang will serve a year in the role.

The ERAC seeks to bring educational equity to Seattle schools through engagement and recommendations.

Kang is a University of California, Los Angeles graduate who immigrated to the United States from South Korea when she was 7. She serves as vice president of the local Korean American Coalition.

“I plan to work to make sure all Asians, including Koreans, have equal opportunities,” she said.
