A Korean American student organization donated 1,300 books and $1,000 late last month to help build libraries in Los Angeles County juvenile detention centers.
The organization, Shakespeare For All, has given toward the project — an effort by Young Nak Outreach & Transformation Foundation, known as YNOT — annually since 2010.
YNOT’s goal for its L.O.V.E. Library Project, which began in 2008, is to implement 21 libraries to serve detained youth.
Kim Sang-min, president of Shakespeare For All, said donated texts include classics, biographies, science, history, travel, essays, graphic novels and self-improvement for children and teenagers.
YNOT has opened five libraries, the most recent being one inside Commerce’s Dorothy Kirby Center in May last year.
