Almost 50 percent of working Koreans in their 20s to 40s do not have anything planned for the Christmas holiday, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Citing a survey conducted on 1,000 Koreans by travel site Expedia, the report said that 44.9 percent of respondents said they had no special plans for Dec. 25.

When asked why they did not have any special plans, 21.8 percent said, “There’s just too much work” while 17.1 percent said that “finding the right time for their loved ones was difficult.”

Nearly 13 percent responded that they do not have plans due to “financial difficulties”.

Asked what an ideal Christmas would look like, more than 30 percent of respondents answered that they wished to hold a party to celebrate the holiday with their friends; and 21.8 percent answered that they needed a “peaceful, calm rest in order to heal.”
