Bryn Mawr Avenue in Chicago was awash in music, fun and food this weekend for the 20th Chicago Korean Festival.

First organized by the Chicago Korean American Chamber of Commerce in 1996, the festival has grown from its initial role as a promoter of local Korean business to a spreader of Korean culture and goods.

Taekwondo and cooking demonstrations, a singing contest and traditional dance and K-pop performances were rounded out by 26 booths and crowds that came out to enjoy the shows.

In attendance were local leaders Jin Ahn-soon, president of the Korean American Association of Chicago; Kim Sang-il, Chicago Consul General; Pyongtong President Lee Moon-kyu; Cho Eun-seo, president of the Korean American Women’s Association of Chicago; Senator Dick Durbin; and Congressman Mike Quigley.
