BTS wins Best Korean Act in MTV awards

K-pop boy band BTS (Bangtan Boys) won the Best Korean Act in the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards and advanced to the Worldwide Act Asia category to compete against artists from Japan, China and Vietnam.

The seven-member band from Big Hit Entertainment defeated other K-pop bands B1A4, GOT7, VIXX and G-Friend.

Competitors in the Worldwide Act Asia division include Taiwanese musician Jay Chou, Japanese band Dempagumi Inc., Chinese vocalist Jane Zhang and Vietnamese rapper Son Tung M-TP.

The winner of the Worldwide Act Asia award will compete against international artists for the title of Best Worldwide Act.

The winner of this will be announced during the MTV Europe Music Awards at the Mediolanum Forum in Assago, Italy, on Oct. 25.
