11 prisoners in L.A. transferred back to Korea since 2005

It looks like Korea is getting its criminals back.

According to the Korean Consulate General in Los Angeles, two imprisoned Korean nationals convicted of manslaughter were transferred to Korea under an agreement of transfer of sentenced persons between Korea and the United States.

Two Koreans from California prisons will undergo proceedings from Korean prosecutors before continuing their sentences in their home country.

A total of 11 prisoners in Los Angeles have been transferred since 2005, when the agreement was made, the consulate said.

Transferred prisoners are usually convicted of felonies or manslaughter and face sentences of at least 15 years. Many of them request transfers due to language problems and cultural differences.
