2 clubs in search of foreign bats as baseball offseason heads into new year

December 24, 2018

SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) — As the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) offseason heads into the new year, eight of the 10 clubs have filled up their foreign player quota.

KBO teams are each permitted to carry a maximum three players from overseas, with at least one position player. For the past several seasons, all teams have opted to sign two pitchers and one position player.

As of Monday, only the Doosan Bears and the KT Wiz still have a spot remaining for imports. The Bears are looking for a new hitter, while the Wiz are hoping to re-sign Mel Rojas Jr., who enjoyed a monstrous 2018 season.

Rojas blasted 43 home runs along with 112 RBIs and 114 runs scored. Rojas was one of only three players in the league with at least 40 dingers, 100 RBIs and 100 runs.
