South Korean top television personality Yoo Jae-seok and actor couple Cha In-pyo and Shin Ae-ra have donated 28 million charcoal briquettes to help low-income households stay warm this winter, Yonhap reported.

Cha and Shin gave 100 million won, or about $85,800, to the Babsang association’s charcoal briquettes bank, while Yoo gave 400 million won, or about $343,200.

The couple’s donation will go toward purchasing charcoal for homes in Seoul, while Yoo’s donation will help families in areas near Seoul and in Gangwon Province.

Yoo previously donated 20 million won, or about $17,000, to the cause in both 2013 and 2014.

Charcoal briquettes are still in popular use in South Korea to heat homes.

Babsang donated 70 million briquettes to homes around the country between October and November this year. Its goal is 300 million.

“Donations for briquettes had decreased this year to about 40 to 50 percent of what we had last year, so we’re thankful that we’re getting donations,” said Heo Ki-bok, president of the briquettes charity bank. “I hope that these top stars’ good deeds are followed by those of everyone else.”
