The Korea Times College Expo draws 3,000

More than 3,000 college-bound hopefuls and parents crowded Sa-rang Community Church in Anaheim Saturday to attend The Korea Times College Expo.
“I heard about the event from a friend who attended last year and came with my son, who’s a high school junior,” said Donna Kim, 48. “Our minds are busy because there’s only a year left before his acceptance into college, so I hope to take away a lot of information today.”

Attendees heard lectures about acceptance into Ivy League institutions and the University of California system by Emily Benoit, admissions counselor at the University of Chicago, and Rachel Hagan, a freshman admissions reader at UC Berkeley.
The expo, in its fifth annual year, covered topics including SAT and ACT testing, choosing college majors, essay writing and financial help. A 100-page college admissions guide was also given out to participants.
