BEIJING (Yonhap) — China on Monday urged “relevant parties” to remain calm and exercise restraint as the United States deployed a B-52 over South Korea in a show of force following North Korea’s fourth nuclear test.

“We hope that relevant sides can remain calm and exercise restraint,” China’s foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters when asked about the flight of the U.S. bomber over South Korea on Sunday.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said Sunday that last week’s nuclear test was a hydrogen bomb, calling it a self-defensive measure against U.S. threats of a nuclear war.
