Chilnomyunok has stopped doing business.

One of the most well-known nangmyun (Korean cold noodle) restaurants in Los Angeles, Chilbomyunok (3680 W. 6th Street), has closed down. It closed its doors as of January 1, 2014. The signs on its parking lot gates only state, “Closed for renovation.”

The Korean restaurant opened for business on April of 2005, and its original owner, Chang Doo-ik, had sold it to dry cleaner businessman Sam Yoon from San Diego back in August of 2012.

According to Mr. Yoon, business was sluggish from the start and after just three months, he asked Mr. Chang to take over management of the restaurant. At this point, Mr. Chang agreed to assume the bank loan and the property lease payments, he said.

The Korea Times tried to get in contact with Mr. Chang many times but was unsuccessful. He is reportedly in Korea.
