Tang Wei and Korean director get hitched in Sweden

Chinese actress Tang Wei and South Korean director Kim Tae-yong tied the knot in Sweden about a fortnight ago, Kim’s management agency revealed on Friday (KST).

The couple had a wedding at the front yard of the home of the late master filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, one of the greatest artists in cinema history, at the small Swedish island of Faro on July 12, the Bom Film Productions Co. said.

They had the Ingmar Bergman Film Festival’s executive director couple as witnesses, it added.

“Faro is the birthplace of filmmaker Ingmar Berman and is where Tang Wei has long dreamed of visiting,” the film company said in a press release.

“As Kim also was an admirer of the Swedish filmmaker, the two decided to have a little impromptu wedding ceremony upon arriving at the Bergman House to honor him,” it said.

The couple is scheduled to hold an official closed-door wedding in August with only relatives of both sides attending, and the rumors quickly spread that Tang Wei must be pregnant.

Tang Wei, 35, who gained worldwide fame for her appearance in Ang Lee’s “Lust, Caution” in 2007, met Kim, 45, in late 2009 while filming the South Korean movie “Late Autumn” together.

They later became friends while filming the movie but their friendship developed into a romance after Tang visited South Korea in October 2013 to shoot a commercial, according to the company.

They denied media reports about their romance in 2012 but made a surprise announcement on July 2 that they have decided to tie the knot.
