SEOUL, June 24 (Yonhap) — South Korean trot singer Hong Jin-young will cover a hit Chinese song from the 1970s, the singer’s agency said Friday.

The 30-year-old diva will sing “The Moon Represents My Heart,” a mellow ballad by Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng, according to Music K Entertainment.

The remake, to be recorded in Korean and Mandarin Chinese, will be released Tuesday at noon. Hong rewrote the lyrics for the Korean version of the song.

The original was released in 1979. The Mandarin song gained fast popularity among South Koreans through the hit 1997 Chinese film “Comrades: Almost A Love Story.”
