An Italian arts university has named South Korean tenor Lim Hyung-joo an honorary professor in its vocal department, Yonhap reported.

Lim, 29, a “Popera” singer, will teach a series of masters classes on classical crossover music three to four times a year while conducting music research at Civica Scuola delle Arti, said distributor Universal Music.

The school is the only public arts university in Rome.

Lim, who debuted in 1998, is the first Korean musician to have released solo records with the world’s largest four music agencies. Earlier this year, he was chosen as one of three best Popera tenors in the world by CNN iReport, and as one of the five most influential by BBC’s music magazine.
