Grammy award-winning American singer, Michael Bolton, was reportedly blown away by a powerful performance by So-hyang, lead singer of Christian band POS, on KBS show “Immortal Songs 2″ broadcast Saturday.

So-hyang gave a stirring rendition of ‘Lean on Me’, written and first performed by soul singer Bill Withers in the 1970s. Bolton had a hit with a cover version of the song in the early 1990s.

“Inspiring night of phenomenal Korean singers on the TV show,” Bolton wrote on his Twitter account after recording the show.

Korean language media reported Bolton’s reaction and also that he described So-hyang’s performance as being of ‘maestro standard’.

So-hyang received a standing ovation from the audience and went on to win the contest with 442 points out of a possible 500.

Lena Park, also known as Park Jung-hyun, came second with 427 points.

So-hyang has been referred to as the Korean Mariah Carey due to her powerful singing voice and her ability to hit high-pitched notes.
