LA K-Town restaurants, hotels see end-of-the-year events boom

It’s the best time of the year for Korean restaurants and hotels in Los Angeles — reservation time slots across Koreatown are reaching 100 percent as local organizations clamor to book spaces for end-of-the-year events.

Joo Woo-in, manager of JJ Grand Hotel, said all weekend event spaces have been filled until the last week of December.

“We don’t expect many organizations to cancel their event spaces, and although we don’t have any openings left, inquiries are pouring in,” he said.

Oxford Palace Hotel Manager Park Bo-ra said smaller groups should be able to book reservations for spaces for off-dates, though most hotels are now full until the week of Dec. 20.

Traditional restaurants like Yong Su San and Shin Beijing are also seeing similar popularity.

According to Shin Beijing Manager Kim Hyung-chul, there has been a rise in small group bookings this year.

“It’s prime time for Korean end-of-the-year parties. It is impossible now to find a space for a weekend in December,” Kim said.

Managers advise smaller groups to look for mid-week reservation spots.
