Korean Air temporarily halts flights to Nairobi on Ebola scare

SEOUL (Yonhap) — South Korea’s national carrier Korean Air Lines Co. said Thursday it will temporally suspend flight services to Nairobi, Kenya, due to the Ebola scare.

The company said the suspension is a precaution to stop the spread of the contagious disease that has killed some 1,000 people in western Africa and raised the alarm around the world.

The airline said the move will go into effect as of next Wednesday and be maintained until further developments.

The company currently provides three weekly flights linking Incheon International Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It uses A330-200 passenger jets capable of carrying 218 people on the route.

“At present, Korean Air is contacting people who booked flights to help them arrange other ways to meet their travel needs, or get them to adjust their itinerary altogether,” the company said in a press release.

    It is understandable that the flights are cancel, but remember many of the people that travels to South Korea are tested extensively for all type of diseases, please lift this ban it is not every African has Ebola.
