SEOUL, Sept. 23 (Yonhap) — Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy Note 7 defeated Apple Inc’s iPhone 7 Plus in the latest drop test, the U.S.-based IT media said Friday, following a global recall of the Android-based phablets due to possible battery problems.

The two high-end models were dropped from one meter up on the back, bottom, side and front, according to the test conducted by smartphone case manufacturer Tech21 and reported by PhoneArena.

The Galaxy Note 7 was able to withstand 50 front drops and functioned, while the iPhone 7 Plus stopped functioning after 10 drops, according to the report.

The iPhone 7 Plus got off to a slight lead in back drops as the device was only scuffed slightly, while the Galaxy Note 7 was cracked on both bottom corners.

In the side drop, both models received additional scuffing but no major cracks, meaning they received similar scores, according to the test.
