DramaFever CEO chosen as Person of the Year by DARI Awards

Korean dramas will rule at this year’s DARI Awards as DramaFever CEO Suk Park, 40, will be awarded Person of the Year at the ceremony next Wednesday.

Put on by Korea Creative Content Agency and the Korea Cultural Center of Los Angeles each year, the awards — which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year — recognizes contributions to and the advancement of Korean culture in the U.S.

DramaFever is the largest streaming site for subtitled Korean dramas in the country, recording about 20 million visitors a month, according to Yonhap.

Other recipients include Film Independent, for Best Business Partnership, DirectTV for Best Media Partnership and TapasMedia for Business of the Year.

Popular K-drama episode recap and news site Dramabeans is this year’s special award winner.

KCCLA Director Kim Young-san said Hallyu in the U.S. this year was driven by the popularity of Korean dramas and K-pop through YouTube, sites like DramaFever and Internet communities.
