A room filled with 120 Korean language teachers from 12 Southern California schools attended a workshop Saturday titled “Studying How to Study” inside Wilshire Park Elementary School in Los Angeles.

The annual gathering, organized by the Korean Institute of Southern California for its branches, is in its 58th year.

Teachers from nine levels, from beginner’s courses to SAT preparation, held discussions about goals and the pros and cons of certain methods.

“It’s never too much to stress the importance of the Korean language to second-generation Korean Americans,” said Kim Hong-sun, institute head. “As the number of non-Korean students interested in our language continues to grow, the institute will strive to provide methodical and quality education.”

The institute runs branches in Granada Hills, Glendale, Diamond Bar, Riverside, Cerritos, Arcadia, Irvine, Los Angeles, Peninsula and Fullerton.
