41 percent discount for Korean Americans residing in Dallas and Fort Worth

The club will also reserve 500 seats near the third base for Choo Shin-soo fans

The Texas Rangers are offering a 41 percent discount to Koreans for its monthly home games held at Arlington’s Globe Life Park.

The Texas Rangers, whose outfielder Choo Shin-soo is one of Korea’s biggest sports stars, will offer a heavy ticket discount for the approximately 85,000 Korean Americans residing in Dallas and Fort Worth.

The team has offered a 41 percent discount to Koreans for its monthly home games held at Arlington’s Globe Life Park, according to the Korean Society of Dallas on Monday.

Choo is expected to be the everyday left fielder for the Rangers, and the club will reserve 500 seats near third base.

They provided tickets to the organization for the April 1 game at $30, which is 41 percent off the regular price of $51.

News Korea, which will sell the tickets instead of the Korean Society, said calls from baseball fans have been coming in continuously.

The Korean Society plans to hold a second Korean section for the April 15 game against the Seattle Mariners. The Rangers said it would give out T-shirts marked with Choo’s No. 17 to 1,500 fans over the age of 14 on a first-come, first-serve basis on game day.

A request to hold a “Korea Day” of cultural performances in July was also proposed to the organization by the Rangers.

Ahn Young-ho, president of the Korean Society, said the organization cannot currently accommodate holding a cultural performance by itself. He said he plans to work together with Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as the Los Angeles Korean American community, to make “Korea Day” happen.
