SEOUL, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) — South Korea’s top tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. is now expected to unveil a new tablet PC at its showcase event next week, industry watchers said Friday, as its latest teaser advertisement showed a glimpse of such a product.
The teaser, introduced on Samsung’s website based in the Philippines, showed an image of three devices, with one being larger than the other two. Below the image is a slogan reading, “We were the first to make them BIG. Now we’re making BIG even BETTER.”
Samsung is also set to showcase its latest phablets, presumably the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, on Aug. 13 in New York. A phablet is a cross between a smartphone and a tablet PC.
Industry watchers had been expecting Samsung to only release two phablets, with one being a larger edition of the Galaxy S6 Edge released in April. Another teaser from Samsung last month had a picture of lines that form the shape of a phablet with a curved display.
