Pilots on Crashed Asiana Jet to Return to Work as Ground Staff

October 2, 2013

Two of the pilots aboard the Asiana Airlines jet that crash-landed in San Francisco airport back in July will return to work, as ground staff, the airline said Wednesday.

Lee Kang-Kuk, who was in charge of the plane at the time of the accident, and Lee Jung-Min, who was sitting in the cockpit as an instructor pilot, will return as early as this week in yet-to-be-determined roles.

Two other pilots onboard resumed flying last month, according to the company spokeswoman.

Meanwhile, the chief of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board Deborah Hersman called off her trip to Seoul due to the U.S. government shutdown, according to Asiana Airlines.
