‘Linsanity’ is coming to Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired the 25-year-old Harvard grad point guard from the Houston Rockets Friday, according to ESPN.com’s Jeff Goodman.

For taking on Lin’s $14 million salary, the Lakers also received a future first-round pick.

The Rockets just needed to be free of Lin’s contract, as they intend to sign Chris Bosh and re-sign Chandler Parsons.

Lin averaged 12.5 points and 4.5 assists per game last season.

Lin, with a suspect outside shot, is most effective when he has the ball in his hands, and it remains to be seen how can effectively play alongside Kobe Bryant, who completely dominates the ball (ask Steve Nash).

The Rockets had the same problem last season with Lin and James Harden, and Lin ended up coming off the bench to lead the second unit most of the time.
