Japanese actor Ken Watanabe has agreed to co-host the opening ceremony of this year’s Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), which begins its 10-day run on Oct. 2, organizers said Tuesday.

Watanabe, who will be joined by Korean actress Moon So-ri on stage, is the third foreigner to open the annual festival, following Chinese actress Tang Wei and Hong Kong actor Aaron Kwok last year.

Watanabe is one of the most influential actors in Japan. His filmography includes American movies such as “The Last Samurai” (2003), “Memoirs of a Geisha” (2006), “Letters from Iwo Jima” (2006) and “Inception” (2010). He also starred in the 2013 movie “Unforgiven,” directed by Korea-Japanese filmmaker Lee Sang-il.

Moon is one of Korea’s most productive actresses. She won the best actress award in the 2002 Venice Film Festival for her performance in the Lee Chang-dong drama, “Oasis” (2002).
