Kang Jung-ho, left, and Choo Shin-soo both homered Tuesday.

Pittsburgh Pirates’ infielder Kang Jung-ho and Texas Rangers’ outfielder Choo Shin-soo both dialed long-distance Tuesday night. Kang sent one 472 feet to the cheap seats in Cincinnati, and Choo hit his 17th in Seattle.

Reds reliever Collin Balester’s slow 78-mph change-up fooled no one. According to Matt Snyder of CBS Sports, Kang’s latest solo home run is the 19th longest of this Major League season.

The longest one was hit just two days ago by another rookie Kris Bryant, who plays third baseman for the Chicago Cubs. That one was a massive 495-footer.

The Pirates (82-55) got one step closer to the playoffs as they went on to win 7-3. The Reds fell to 57-80.

Choo’s home run did not travel as far, but did more damage, as it came with two runners on board.  He also wore out Mariners pitchers by making them throw a combined total of 27 pitches to him alone en route to walking twice.

The Rangers (73-64) kept their playoff chances alive by defeating the Mariners 9-6.
