Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Kang Jung-ho will start on the bench once more Wednesday for the team’s second road game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Although Pirates General Manager Neal Huntington stated that the organization has “every intent in the world of him helping us winning games at the Major League level beginning Opening Day,” it has yet to show.

Kang straddled the line between securing a spot on the active roster and being sent down to the minors after struggling for most of spring training with a .200 batting average, two home runs and five RBIs.

He trended upwards right before the regular season began where he batted .385 with one home run and 3 RBIs  in the final five games of the preseason.
