Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Kang Jung-ho scored his first major league run Sunday in a 5-2 win against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 28-year-old South Korean entered the game as a pinch runner in the sixth inning after starter Jordy Mercer was hit in the chest by a wild pitch.

Pirates catcher Chris Stewart hit a sharp line drive into left field to bring Kang home.

Kang got his one and only at-bat during the game in the eighth, which yielded his first major league walk boosting his on-base percentage (OBP) to .182 while keeping his .100 average the same.

Mercer’s X-rays came back negative, but if the Pirates decide to give him a few days off, Kang will most likely see more playing time and possibly even get some starts.
