[THE HUFFINGTON POST] — Should this Valentine’s Day pass you by without anyone to share it with, there’s still ample time to make it to South Korea for Black Day. It’s the unofficial holiday in which heartsick singles don their darkest clothing, eat bowls of black bean paste noodles — and, since misery loves company, come together to share their romantic woes.

The holiday, which happens every April 14, comes after the celebrations of Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14 and White Day on March 14. On South Korean Valentine’s Day, Korean women give men chocolate to show their affection, and then men have the opportunity to return the compliment during White Day.
