Giants’ Lee Jung-hoo hits 6th triple of season, tied for 2nd in NL

June 30, 2025

Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants has pulled into a tie for second place in the National League (NL) with his sixth triple of the season.

The three-bagger was Lee’s only hit in four at-bats in the Giants’ 12-5 loss to the Miami Marlins at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Thursday (local time).

Batting fifth, Lee led off the bottom of the fourth inning by hitting a line drive toward right fielder Jesus Sanchez, who failed to make a diving grab or at least keep the ball in front of him. As the ball rolled toward the warning track, Lee sped around the bases for a stand-up triple.

With six triples, Lee is leading the Giants and is tied with Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers for second in the NL, three behind Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Lee then came home on a single by Willy Adames that cut the Marlins’ lead to 5-3. The Giants scored two more runs that same inning to tie the game at 5-5 before the Marlins pulled away with three runs in the fifth and four more in the eighth.

Lee also leads the Giants with 17 doubles and ranks second on the team with 74 hits and 46 runs scored.

For the season, Lee is batting .252/.322/.412 in 78 games. In 21 games so far in June, Lee only has a .171/.314/.329 line with zero home runs and three RBIs.

Also on Thursday, the Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies 3-1 at Coors Field in Denver, with their South Korean utility man Kim Hye-seong on the bench.

Despite batting .372/.410/.538 in 35 games, Kim has been playing sparingly. His most recent start came Sunday.
